Three of swords.
Mediums: gouache, ink, wine, blood, & digital printing.
I like how this turned out but really regret having the border so dark and close in. It feels claustrophobic and would have looked a lot better with a light border further off. Learning not to overwork stuff, embrace negative space, and allow for breathing room is an ongoing process (in art + life...)

Double-sided flyer, collabo with Jean. I think this was the biggest (most well attended) show I ever did at the Girl Cave. Either that or it ties with the 10/08 Salome/Thou/PLush/Turboslut/Drow show. This was the end of a weekend with ¡APESHIT! and I had tour flu/my voice was so lost that every time I screamed, I got vertigo. Coped with tequila. Memories pullin at my heart-strings.

Rub on letters and xerox collage, photocopied.
Sometimes, when other people ask me to make flyers, I react by making them really sloppy or snarky, in attempt to prevent future favor-solicitation. (I could also just tell people when I don't feel like providing unpaid labor, but what would be the fun in that?) This was one such flyer, "commissioned" by my colleague local show-mogul Chris Moore.

Wendy O. Williams. For a flyer I made for Magrudergrind. Pencil & pen.

Collaboration with Mike Taylor.

Collaboration with Mike Taylor.

Ink, manipulated with a color copy machine and layered thru multiple passes in such a machine.
This is inspired by the cover and contents of Adulterers Anonymous, an amazing collaborative book of poetry by Lydia Lunch and Exene Cervenka.
I had to salvage the original drawing from a little disaster. I spent about 10 hours sitting at my dining room table drawing this, but during that time, people came and went (I lived in a moderately chaotic punk house at the time) and various beverages were in proximity to the drawing...some spilled. Buy the ticket ride the ride, as they say.

Gouache and ink on watercolor paper.

ink + saliva on watercolor paper. glaring daggers. paper hue was brighter than this scan shows. this is one of my favorite kinds of flyers to make--lots of scribbles and secret messages, no digital alterations, bright photocopying.

Crucial show. FLASH ATTACKS didn't show. Great turn out. Forming of life long friendships.

"Thou and Danke come before you to celebrate their everlasting love."
Ink. Xeroxed onto sage green cover weight linen.
My dad got married earlier that day. I went from being best man in his wedding straight to run this show. Cops came after three Thou songs, giving them a convenient excuse to pretend that wasn't already their set length. Was an awesome show anyway. Few attendees who weren't coming straight from my Dad's wedding took the "formal attire" suggestion.
